Payroll Transformation Manager

NOW Careers are currently recruiting for a fast-growing PE backed business in South Wales. Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Transformation Manager to deliver an effective payroll service to the organisation and to drive the automation of the payroll function going forward.
Reporting into the Director of Finance, you will work as part of a team of 2 in order to support the ongoing growth of the payroll/business. The successful candidate will be driven, proactive and take the initiative to continuously transform the reporting and systems as part of a wider group systems implementation project.
The role will be challenging yet rewarding, and through your actions you will move the business from a manual high-volume payroll process to a more slick and automated system to improve reporting and efficiencies for the whole team. Once this project has been achieved the role will become more strategic and you will support the Senior Leadership team with KPI’s and management reports.
Key activities will include:
- Responsibility for the company pensions
- Liaising with respective stakeholders in head office, internal stakeholders and providing easy to understand statistical reports
- Lead on the group harmonisation project from a payroll perspective
- Transform payroll into a paperless system
- Review and improve current payroll processes from beginning to end
- Supporting the roll out of a new system
- Streamlining payroll systems, controls and policies to ensure processes are robust, efficient and effective
- Assist with the day to day operations of the payroll
- Timesheet review and payroll preparation for more over 900 + employees
- Assist with inputting new starters and leavers
- Producing monthly payroll reports as required by management
- Preparing payroll journals to feed monthly management accounts
- Preparing pension contribution reports
- Managing the Sage HR admin portal
- Assist with pension queries
- Provide advice and guidance to all key stakeholders
Experience:
- Keen eye for detail and an inquisitive approach and someone who is not afraid to challenge the status quo.
- Driven and proactive approach to work
- Sage payroll experience is highly desirable
- Involvement / experience in harmonisation projects is desirable

- Competent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) as well as conversant with IT systems
- Good problem-solving skills with the ability to think outside of the box
Qualifications & Knowledge:
- Payroll/ pension qualifications essential
- Sage Payroll experience is desirable
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint). Strong excel skills particularly desirable
- Experience of managing change from manual to digital in a large organisation with multiple payrolls
