Management Accountant

NOW Careers is exclusively partnering with a Pontypridd based Community Housing Organisation to recruit a Qualified Management Accountant to join its finance team.

 

Reporting into the Corporate Director of Finance, the successful candidate will be a technically sound Accountant who is able to provide an effective and timely management reporting service whilst producing monthly management accounts within agreed timescales. You will work collaboratively with the Finance Business Partners and wider team to ensure timely and accurate information is provided from Budget holders as well as providing effective and accurate reporting in order to produce long-term forecasts and the preparation of the Financial Statements.

What you’ll be responsible for…

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts including detailed variance analysis ensuring that all transactions are recorded on a timely and accurate basis.
  • Preparation of reconciliations and notes to the management accounts allocated as per the monthly timetable.
  • Monthly and quarterly management and reconciliation of VAT, taking into account the partial exemption supported by the Assistant Accountant.
  • Responsible for the accurate reconciliation of all balance sheet control accounts.
  • Support the Finance Business Partners in developing the financial management competencies of budget holders.
  • Work with the Finance Business Partners, tracking results against plans, understanding and reporting key variances against budgets and forecasts.
  • Support the Head of Corporate Finance and Head of Income Recovery to deliver the annual rent uplift to tenants.
  • Ensure procedures within the Management Accounts team are accurately recorded and updated and provide strong internal controls.
  • Attend meetings as required providing financial expertise for decision making.
  • Ensure you keep up to date with accounting and taxation regulations through Continuous Professional Development including attendance at appropriate training courses and conferences.
  • Provide credible leadership to any direct reports, demonstrating the values of the organisation.

The successful candidate will –

  • Be a Qualified CCAB Accountant with minimum 3 years post qualified experience.
  • Possess significant experience preparing management and statutory accounts within short timescales
  • Possess significant experience of producing performance management information, analysing data and interpreting the results for a wide range of stakeholders
  • Have demonstrable experience of line management of direct reports within the finance team
  • Have experience in preparing long term business plans
  • Have experience of partnering with business units, providing financial advice, guidance and support
  • Be able to manage workloads to meet demanding targets, bringing set objectives to successful completion within agreed deadlines
  • Have advanced communication skills, and be able to liaise effectively with a wide range of people both internally and externally
