I am recruiting for a well-known 3rd sector organisation in Cardiff who are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join its finance team. This is an exciting opportunity for a Finance Manager who enjoys a fast paced and dynamic organisation, looking to grow and develop. This role will support the demanding and vital work of the charity and will need the Finance Manager to help them in achieving this.
Your role will be crucial in ensuring the financial health of the organisation. The successful candidate will manage all of the day to day financial requirements of the Company. You will provide support and guidance on all financial matters and support the rest of the business with financial decision making. You will prepare and present financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders. This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
Reporting into the CEO, the main responsibilities of the role will include –
- Month end closing activities including balance sheet reconciliations and preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Preparation and presentation of quarterly report to Finance and Risk Committee.
- Work closely with fundraising team to keep track of project financials and project financial reporting
- Working with Executive Team, CEO and the Treasurer to prepare the Annual Budget including cash flow forecast
- Manage the year end audit process to ensure timely sign off of annual accounts
- Working with project owners to prepare budgets for funding proposals ensuring full cost recovery
- Monitoring and carrying out the day-to-day financial operations within the Charity, such as payroll, invoicing, bank reconciliation and other transactions
- Preparation of monthly payroll information for payroll run
- Maintenance of accurate salary lists for all staff and manage increments, pay awards, leave and any other aspects affecting pay.
- Responsibility for renewal and maintenance of insurance, energy and all other supplier contracts
- Responsible for reviewing, maintaining and updating financial account policies and procedures
- Supporting, training and developing those employees who undertake financial functions within the Charity, including financial assistants
- Attending to and management of any other financial management or reporting requirements for the Charity.

The working hours are Full-time (35 hours), or Part Time (tbc)
Working pattern: Monday to Friday 9.00-4.30
Person specification
Criteria of the successful candidate will include:
- Financial Qualification – ideally AAT Level 4 or equivalent
- At least 5 years of experience working in finance
- At least 3 years’ experience in a more senior finance role
- Experience in the financial management and governance tasks would be beneficial
- Clear understanding of and a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Desirable to be a Welsh Speaker
