Accounts Assistant – Caerphilly

Permanent Salary £25,000 – £28,000 (DOE) + Benefits

My client is an SME organisation based in the Caerphilly area and have been trading for over 60 years. A really well established business, that is looking to recruit an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their team.

Working as part of a small and friendly team, the successful candidate will be required to deal with all purchase/sales ledger processing and the associated tasks. Reporting to and supporting the Financial Director on a daily basis, you will be responsible for high volume data entry of invoices, checking and verifying invoices, processing payments, dealing with queries and ensuring they are all processed accurately for payment purposes. The role would suit an individual that has worked within sales/purchase invoicing previously and is able to come in and hit the ground running. Over time the role will evolve and the successful candidate will take on additional responsibilities to support the FD with his workload.

Responsibilities will include:

  • High volume input of data entry invoices
  • Dealing with supplier queries
  • Raise purchase order requisitions, match invoices to the purchase orders and check for any variances
  • Ensuring all invoices are ready for payment
  • Raising sales invoices
  • Processing payments
  • Credit control and chasing payments
  • Statement and bank reconciliations
  • Cashiering and dealing with the petty cash
  • Expenses
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills are highly desirable and previous experience of working on Sage 50 would be highly advantageous

Personality Specification:

  • Hard working and happy to roll up your sleeves and support the financial director
  • Purchase and sales ledger experience preferred
  • AAT studier although my client is also happy to consider applications from those more experienced candidates that are not looking to progress
  • Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Enthusiastic and happy to learn and take on additional tasks over time

Our client offers excellent working conditions and the opportunity to work for a well-established and long-standing employer within the local area. The role will be office-based Monday – Thursday 8.30am – 5.00pm and a 4.00pm finish Friday. On-site parking is also available for all employees.
