Barney Dawson – Recruitment Consultant 

What is your recruitment background?

I first started out in recruitment in 2016 working within the Technology Sales industry concentrating mostly on the European market. I definitely feel that by starting my career here, it provided all the foundations to become a successful Consultant. After, I then moved to a well-known, national recruiter where I focused on the Midlands defined market.

Why did you join Now Careers?

Despite a number of offers I decided NOW was the best avenue to better my career. Gary, David, and Robbie were incredibly transparent throughout the interview process and clearly have some ambitious yet realistic goals for the team. Secondly, the no-nonsense, adult and dynamic working environment suits my style of recruitment. Having the ability to work independently, whilst still having the support mechanisms in place were paramount. Not only this, but the unrivalled commission scheme was definitely a massive pull factor!

I am now working on a truly global basis and supporting some highly disruptive and hyper-growth organisations. Technology, for me (and I am biased!), has always presented itself as the most interesting market. In no other sector do you get the opportunity to learn about new areas of cutting edge mechanisations, as you do in this one so I’m very excited about my future here!

Away from recruitment, what do you do?

Outside of recruitment, I live in the Jewellery Quarter with my girlfriend. We are really into movies, food, dining out and a touch of exercise (here and there). We love going away, with our highlight so far being Sicily.
